Cause

The cause of idiopathic pain syndrome is not known with certainty, but it appears that it could be the existence of weaker cartilage in the joint between the patella and the femur. This disorder can also be called chondromalacia patella.

Symptoms

It produces moderate pain in both knees, which increases in intensity when exercising or when the knee is bent for a long time(sitting).

Treatment

Physical therapy, anti-inflammatories, and in the most severe cases, surgery can improve pain.
